What is a Saltwater pool?

A saltwater pool is just like a standard pool except it uses a salt chlorine generator or commonly abbreviated as SWG, to produce chlorine using your own pool water.

It’s called a saltwater pool because you add salt to the water, which also makes the water feel silkier.

What is a Chlorine Generator?

Saltwater systems consist of two primary pieces of equipment: the cell and the power controller.

The pool water flows out of the filter and through the cell. Inside the cell, a series of metal plates with a low-voltage current applied creates a reaction that converts the salt down to tiny little bubbles of hypochlorous acid which then coverts to pure chlorine.

How much salt does my pool need?

Just how much pool salt to add to your pool depends on the Saltwater system that is installed on your pool.  Typical salt ranges are any where from 3200ppm to 4500ppm(that only around 1/10th of the oceans salinity).

Salt is added after the system is installed and should be checked quarterly. Salt is a mineral and stays in the water but depending on splash out from usage or how many cannon balls are done, salt levels will drop with water loss from use.

How much does it cost to convert to a saltwater pool?

We offer the CMP PowerClean 540 installed with salt for $1605.00. this includes plumbing the system in, salt and a 3 year manufacturer warranty.

Say goodbye to buying chlorine tabs and buckets of pool shock and say hello to a smarter pool.

With this PowerClean 540 from CMP, produce chlorine on demand simply by installing this unit and adding salt to your pool.

We serviced 18000 pools last year and salt pools gave us the least trouble during the hottest times of the Arizona summer.  When a pool has heavy usage and wont hold chlorine between visits or was struggling in the heat, this is the unit I recommend and installed above all other brands.

Unlike its competitors, you can see when the cell is in need of service because the cell housing is clear, in addition the cell is removed from the housing the cell is cleaned with out the use of acid.

One thing that I would find a lot in failed salt cells of other brands is that they were not cleaned are regular intervals causing premature failure of the unit, this is because you cannot see the cell and easily forget until it is to late.

Another reason is that you cant really add to much salt, well you can but what I mean is, if you add 5 to many bags and your salt level is over the 4500ppm normal range, not to worry, this unit will still produce chlorine unlike its competitors.

Here in Arizona, certain places have a very high salt content, and when water evaporates, it leaves behind salt, fresh water is added to keep the water level and along with it comes more salt, eventually with other brands the salt level becomes to high and the system shuts down, the CMP unit does not do this, another reason why I really like this unit and recommend it.

All and all, I really love this unit and swimming in a salt pool feels silky on the skin and if your at all interested in the environmental aspect of it, producing your own chlorine on side reduces the need to produce harmful sanitizer chemical byproducts from manufacturing, reduced environmental impact from shipping those chemicals around the globe, so lots of reasons to convert your pool to a saltwater pool.
